As if being a mother isn’t a full time job all by itself, we’ve got some seriously dedicated moms working at Meesh & Mia as well! Here at work, we don’t necessarily know them as ‘mom’ (except Barbara…we’ll get to that in a second) we know them as Elizabeth Turley, Ann Clasby, Jenny Aars, Marjan Schelling, Michele Frank, Denise Marley, Mary Henderson and Barbara Schelling…who is Marjan’s mother, therefore, she’s mom at work too!!
We wanted to be sure these women got some special recognition this weekend for all that they do here at Meesh & Mia (sorry, we can’t force recognition at home, although we’ve met your families and we’re fairly certain you’ll be taken care of…and if not, we’re even more certain you’ll take care of it yourself!) As a women owned company and one that prides itself on promoting strong women and a family first attitude, moms hold a very special position within our culture. We asked our resident mommies to give us their favorite memories about either being a mom, or a favorite memory about their own mom. Here’s what we got…
Elizabeth Turley – Founder, CEO, Mom to 3, Step-Mom to 4, Grandmother to 15 and Great-Grandmother of 5! Christmas was always the best time but not because of presents. Every year we would make a different kind of ornament and each child would make their own version. I still look at them every year when I decorate the tree. Then we would bake all kinds of cookies…I know to this day they are very important memories for the kids too.
Jenny Aars – Director of Communications and Mom of 2! When I was a little girl I loved nothing more than snuggling up beside my mom. Now as a mother there is nothing sweeter than to have my newborn asleep on my chest & my two year old snuggled up right next to me. Simple but oh so sweet!!
Barbara Schelling – Creative Director, Mom of 2, Grandmother of 1, and soon-to-be-Grandmother of 2! When Ryder and Marjan were ages 6 & 7, they were really excited about the first day of school. We laid out their new clothes the night before and got their school supplies all ready to go. That morning, I heard a noise out in the kitchen. When I went out, and they had already dressed themselves, combed their hair, got their backpacks ready and were eating cereal for breakfast. Annnnnddd…it was 4:30 in the morning.
Marjan Schelling – Art Director and soon-to-be Mom of 1! One of my favorite memories of my mom is when she would stroke my hair while I slept in her lap, I use to pretend like I was sleeping so she would do it as long as possible.
Denise Marley – Merchandise Sourcing and Mom of 1 (…1 that just got a 4.0 GPA in her second year of college…mad props Denise!) There are so many great “mom” memories, but I guess the best memories are those that include our time spent together on our “chicken runs”, and realizing that you really can be your child’s best friend while also being a parent. I also remember that when she stopped calling me mamma and started calling me mom, I grounded her!
Mary Henderson – Embellishment Specialist and Mom of 2, Step-Mom of 1, and Grandmother of 2! So many wonderful memories I couldn’t pick just one. I will say that being a mom and raising my children has been my greatest joy and achievement! I wouldn’t trade one minute with them, for anything.
And here they are…in all their mom wonderfulness. MEET THE MOMS!

From Left: Denise, Barbara, Elizabeth, Mary, Marjan and Jenny!

And again…being silly!

Here’s Ann Clasby – VP of Business Development and Mom of 2! She works all around the US…here she is being her beautiful self in Dallas!

And Michele Frank - Co-Founder and expecting mom of her first little one!!! Being fabulous as always.
We would also like to take a quick moment to congratulate our new or soon to be mommies!! Jenny & husband Dave recently gave birth to their second little one (first boy) this May. She now has a little girl, Taylee who is 2 ½ years old and her new little boy, Beau, who is 2 ½ weeks old! Marjan and husband Atom are expecting their first little girl in August. They’ve decided on the name Emma Trail, naming her after a great great grandmother on Marjan’s mother’s Native American side…even though we’ve all been pushing for either Meesh or Mia, I mean there is a certain ring to it! And Michele & Ed, who are expecting their first child in August, which will be Elizabeth’s sweet 16th grandchild because, little did you know, Michele is also Elizabeth’s daughter! Ah yes, it’s going to be a busy month in August for us and we can’t wait!
And that’s it…Moms, we LOVE YOU!
